Sewa Day October 6th
Sewa Day is a universal concept which involves performing an act of kindness without expectation of reward and is celebrated annually on October 6th in different countries around the world. A project of Sewa International, Sewa Day is an international day of volunteering where thousands of good-hearted people across the world come together to perform service, and experience the joy of giving. By participating in this collective endeavor, it is hoped that the seeds of Sewa (Sanskrit for ‘selfless service’) are watered so that the flowers of acts of kindness and of public service bloom more often. Students in Year 2 learnt about the importance and meaning of Sewa Day in our day to day lives. As the school not only develops the cognitive skills of the students but also help them build the social and emotional practices encouraging a kind and caring behaviour. Students enjoyed the lesson planned for Sewa day in each class of year 2 and practised some acts of kindness without expectations.
