Year 2 Art exhibition: Based on the UN sustainability goal 13 - Combat climatic changes, students showcased their ideas and suggestions to save the Earth through the creative medium of Art.
English Week was celebrated from 10th – 14th January across school. The objective of this week was to enhance language proficiency and to promote language acquisition through a variety of creative, innovative and engaging activities aimed to foster an interest in English language and literature and to meet the varied needs of students with diverse learning needs, preferences, styles and interests. A range of fun, interactive, enriching and stimulating activities on varied themes were organized during the week.Another yet exciting event celebrated with full zing and enthusiasm by Year 2 students. Students spoke about the famous attractions and landmarks of their countries and they created dual- lingual postcards as well. Students and parents engaged into enriching activities highlighting the importance of language and culture across the world. Students had an informative and engaging event.
The Year 2 students used the Scratch Jr software and snapped together programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. They made cross curricular links with English-contemporary tales and modified how their characters from the stories look, designed their own backgrounds, added their own voices and sounds and even photos of themselves and then used the programming blocks to bring their characters to life. World Diabetes DayWorld Diabetes Day takes place on the 14th November every year. It has grown from humble beginnings to become a globally-celebrated event which increases awareness about diabetes. Comprising hundreds of campaigns, activities, screenings, lecture, meetings and more, World Diabetes Day is proving internationally effective in spreading the message and diabetes and raising awareness for the condition. World Diabetes Day is internationally recognised and is an official United Nations Day.
EXPO Visit Year 2The Year 2 little explorers visited the Expo2020 exhibition on Wednesday, 17th November. They explored a range of pavilions of different countries and gained a lot of information about sustainable development goals. They were very enthusiastic in exploring and had an enriching learning experience. During their visit, they unveiled future-shaping innovations and also discovered different sustainable options to help protect the earth. Overall, it was a fun filled, enriching trip.
Science Day 2021The Year2 critical learners celebrated world science day on 10th November, where they watched a video on Global warming. They became aware of the importance of taking care of their environment. They made a collaborative poster exploring the causes of Global warming and what can be done to reduce the effects.
Road Safety week 2021Road safety week was observed, by all the students of Year 2. It was organised to instil in students a sense of responsibility towards personal safety while travelling in vehicles or pedestrian travel. Students participated in various activities like recapping the school bus rules and making posters on road safety using ICT tools or by simply drawing. During the PSHCEE lessons too, they were infused with similar learning objectives and discussions.
Sewa Day October 6thSewa Day is a universal concept which involves performing an act of kindness without expectation of reward and is celebrated annually on October 6th in different countries around the world. A project of Sewa International, Sewa Day is an international day of volunteering where thousands of good-hearted people across the world come together to perform service, and experience the joy of giving. By participating in this collective endeavor, it is hoped that the seeds of Sewa (Sanskrit for ‘selfless service’) are watered so that the flowers of acts of kindness and of public service bloom more often. Students in Year 2 learnt about the importance and meaning of Sewa Day in our day to day lives. As the school not only develops the cognitive skills of the students but also help them build the social and emotional practices encouraging a kind and caring behaviour. Students enjoyed the lesson planned for Sewa day in each class of year 2 and practised some acts of kindness without expectations.
International Teachers’ DayInternational Teachers Day is observed every year on October 5 to consider issues related to teachers and teaching. It focuses on appreciation, assessment and changes required for teachers and is also an occasion to honour teachers for their contribution towards students. World Teachers Day is observed since 1994. World Teachers Day acknowledges the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 International Labour Organization/ United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommendation concerning the status of teachers. The day is celebrated in abut 100 nations around the globe.
