International Women’s Day was celebrated across primary section on 8th March. Students of Year 1 and 2 commenced the International Women’s Day with an informative and thought-provoking presentations. Teachers spoke about the ability and achievements of women. Teachers also discussed the achievements of all the Emiratis women. It was further emphasized that the arena of women’s success is not limited to the narrow bounds of gender bias. The purpose of celebrating women’s day was to encourage equality and respect which was depicted by the children in the form of a beautiful poster. They expressed their gratitude to the most inspiring women in their lives.

Year 2 Champs received many prizes in the spelling bee competition held by The Royal Spelling Bee. Samaira Joshi from Year 2A and Chetna Kishore Kumar from Year 2G won 1st rank, Shanaya from Year 2B and Mashaa from Year 2I also won championship certificates and medals. Hearty Congrats to the Spelling Wizards. Students are made aware of the significance of education in life. They were shown an informative presentation and encouraged to compare their lives with the unprivileged children. This stimulus helped them to understand the benefits of being an educated individual. Later, they were asked to articulate their understanding by identifying their most inspirational role model.
On 13th January 2023; Year 2s celebrated Maths Day with immense excitement and enthusiasm. It was a greatly enriching experience for students with a lot of new learning. Filled with anticipation and fervor, the students of Year 2 went on an expedition to the world of shapes. Along with their parents, the junior Mathematicians explored different mathematical activities based on 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes which are further linked to other mathematical concepts like the collection of data about shapes, estimation and finding the actual number of shapes in a container, constructing and building models using different shapes and retrieving data from a given text. The plenary was engaging and the loved doing mental maths.
On 29th November we celebrated The UAE national day at The Winchester school. Students along with their parents involved themselves in different activities to show the culture of the UAE. Students dressed up in the UAE’s flag colours to show their love towards the nation. They expressed their views on different tradition they follow here in the UAE and in their home country. Students enjoyed traditional dance of the UAE, Henna designing, face painting, visit to the majlis and clicked the pictures with the UAE’s national bird falcon. It was an enriching and entertaining day for everyone in school.
The event went very well. Students were informed about the history of the UAE flag and the significance of each colour of the national flag. They were provided with multiple resources to create an artefact and decorate their classroom to celebrate the memorable day of the UAE.
A wonderful Assembly conducted by Year 2 students on Road Safety in order to educate about traffic rules and the role it plays in shaping the behaviour and attitude of children by ensuring that they become responsible passenger, pedestrian, cyclist and drivers. It was an enthralling experience for the students as well as parents and Teachers to be a part of first physical assembly.
Year 2's aspiring actors celebrated English Day with a range of enthralling activities. They dressed up as their favourite characters from various traditional tales across the globe, bringing them to life. Students took the lead in the “Scrumptious Synonyms” activity, wherein parents had to come up with synonyms for standard words. This was followed by the “Guess The Character” game, where students and their parents teamed up to identify characters from traditional tales based on descriptive cues. There was a commendable showcase of parental engagement and consistent enthusiasm from the little ones.
On the event of Science day, Year 2's little explorers delve into various habitats, dressing up as animal characters. Parental engagement during the event was phenomenal. Students along with their parents explored activities planned in different zones. They take a hands-on and creative approach in the construction zone, using Legos and recycled materials to build different animals and minibeasts sharing their adaptations.
The young learners of Year 2 celebrated International Literacy day with 100 % participation and total enthusiasm. They have not only articulated their comprehension skills but also brought story characters to life. Despite knowing the fictitious and non-fictitious nature of the story, they could derive the good and bad lessons from a range of stories that facilitated them to perceive the significance of literacy and to be literate. In addition, during their presentation and healthy debate discussion, they have shown a high level of critical and collaboration skills. Overall, the event went well, and the objective was achieved.
