As a new initiative to move teaching and learning to the next level at the Winchester students were introduced to PBL (Project based Learning) that includes the elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, English, Art and Maths) This is an effort to instill in the students 21st century skills which includes Creativity and Innovation, Critical thinking and Problem solving Communication, Collaboration Use of technology, Digital Citizenship Flexibility and Adaptability, Initiative and Self-Direction, Leadership and Responsibility. During week 1 of STEAM based Projects, Year 2 students worked on making replicas of different habitats that includes 3D models, preparing posters and Power point presentations.
Children wrote stories based on their habitats and collected information. They explored different habitats using library books and ICT tools. They collected data on habitat and represent it using (Tally, frequency table) and later created a power point presentation about it. They had fun researching about different habitats and enjoyed creating the replicas of plants, animals and setting of the habitats.
