The event went very well. Students were informed about the history of the UAE flag and the significance of each colour of the national flag. They were provided with multiple resources to create an artefact and decorate their classroom to celebrate the memorable day of the UAE.
Embarking on a journey of exploration and education, Year 2 students had the opportunity to visit the Crocodile Park, where the fascinating world of these ancient reptiles unfolded before their eyes. This educational excursion proved to be an unforgettable experience, offering students a blend of excitement and knowledge as they delved into the mysterious realm of crocodiles.
A wonderful registration time activity was done by KS 1 students on International mental health day in order to educate about how we can support our mental health and the role different activities like reading, playing, listening to music or meditation etc. plays an important role in calming oneself down. Students drew beautiful mind maps and did a meditation activity. It was an enthralling experience for the students as well as teachers to be witnessing this activity.
‘’Saving a habitat is not a choice, it is important” World Habitat Day is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns. KS1 students celebrated the World Habitat Day to promote sustainable development policies that ensure adequate shelter for all. They created wonderful posters and wrote slogans to promote carbon free world. The students were excited to suggest ways how they can save the habitats. Sewa Day is a catalyst for acts of kindness and public service. It is a chance to do something positive that makes a meaningful difference to someone else’s quality of life. Students learnt about the importance and meaning of Sewa Day in our day to day lives. As the school not only develops the cognitive skills of the students but also help them build the social and emotional practices encouraging a kind and caring behaviour. Students enjoyed the lesson planned for Sewa day and practiced some acts of kindness without expectations.
Year 2 celebrated Science Week with interesting thought-provoking activities based on the theme “Nurturing Nature, Nurturing Future. The interactive augmented reality game on Adaptation demonstrated the ingenious ways that nature provides home to countless species. The Ocean is Not a Garbage Can hands-on activity allowed parents to understand the significance of conserving the ocean ecosystem. The model on “No Soil, No Us” underscored the importance of planting trees to conserve soil which is the base of life. The fun board game gave tips to parents on how they can contribute to reducing global warming.
The propitious environment saw our young learners of YEAR 2 think out of the box and have a great learning experience, wherein they along with parents participated in numerous engrossing activities like reading, writing and listening on how they can bring a change in the community to beat climate change. The students expressed their ideas and thoughts on Climate Change using language arts leaving the parents mesmerized by their creative and critical thinking skills. The purpose of the Year 2 Phonics workshop was to develop and share key information with the parents and students about developing phonics skills and help participants to learn the relationship between letters and the sounds they represent in the English language. The activities involved during the workshop was to enhance reading fluency, support spelling skills and fostering independent learning in our students.
Roald Dahl's Day day was celebrated on 13th September 2023 for the Year 2 learners. They got the opportunity to display their creative edge by crafting characters from the novels written by Roald Dahl e.g. The Red Fox, Willie Wonka, Big Friendly Giant etc. This activity not only provided them with the opportunity of reading, exploring a variety of genres but they were also encouraged to speak about their favourite character from the story. It was overwhelming to see children all enthusiastically and creatively participating in the event. All the students joining the huge Winchester family in year 2, were welcomed wholeheartedly, with immense joy and affection. They were acquainted with the learning environment, through numerous interactive and fun-filled activities. |
